Gday,
Time for another blogaroo AND once again its about a band that Ive only really got into in the last few yonks but have been around for  fair while...THE FOO FIGHTERS

Now to be fair and transparent when Dave was in NIrvana , I more than readily considered them the enemy cause I was doing the hairy metal thing and they were the antithesis of what I liked , this aint saying that Kurt and the boys werent any good , they were but they werent my bottle of pepsi at the time.

Now I dug Big Me and Learn to fly but that was about it for me and the Fooeys until recently when I saw Dave on Lemmys dvd and then I saw the Sonic Highways and Sound City docos ..

.I thought to myself, self , might be time to give them another shot , so i hit You Tube hard , and I was amazed at how much of their stuff I genuinely dig

I went and bought the Greatest hits c.d and the live at Wembley dvd and that was me sold

The boys formed in Seattle, Washington in 1994. It originally a Dave Grohl solo project following the end of Nirvana .

Rumour has it the group got its name from the UFOs and various aerial phenomena that were reported by Allied aircraft pilots in World War II, which were known collectively as "foo fighters"....so there you go , historical learnage for you

Dave Grohl recruited bassist Nate Mendel and drummer William Goldsmith, both formerly ofSunny Day Real Estate, as well as getting Pat Smear to complete the lineup. The band began with performances in Portland, Oregon.

When most of the drum parts were re-recorded by Grohl on the group's second album, The Colour and the Shape (1997),  Goldsmith quit during the recording

Pat  Smear's departure was rather cool , he left the band after playing the first song of a set on the balcony of Radio City Music Hall,  though he would rejoin them in 2006.

Taylor Hawkins and Franz Stahl, took their spots respectively, although Stahl was let go before the recording of the group's third album, There Is Nothing Left to Lose (1999).

The band briefly continued as a trio until Chris Shiflett joined as the band's lead guitarist after the completion of There Is Nothing Left to Lose. During this time Taylor had a close call with a overdose but Dave and Taylor told each other to F**k off and made up

The band released its fourth album, One by One, in 2002. and there was a struggle duirng this album,   Dave even went and played with Queens of the Stone Age, and some thought that this was it for the Fooeys

The group followed that release with the two-disc In Your Honor (2005), which was split between acoustic songs and heavier material, and its just f**kin amazeaballs ...go get it

Fooeys released the sixth album, Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace, in 2007. The band's seventh studio album, Wasting Light, produced by Butch Vig was released in 2011, in which Pat returned as a full member.

In November 2014, the band's eighth studio album, Sonic Highways, was released as an accompanying soundtrack to the Grohl-directed 2014 miniseries of the same name.

On September 15, 2017, the band released their ninth studio album, Concrete and Gold, which became their second to reach #1 in the United States.

Presenting one of my personal highlights of 80s music in Orstralya...the mighty Uncanny X Men

EVERYBODY WANTS TO WORK

Uncanny X-Men got together in Melbourne in 1981, and temporarily disbanded in 1987. They are fronted by lead singer Brian Mannix and originally included Chuck Hargreaves on guitar, Steve Harrison on bass guitar, Nick Matandos on drums and Ron Thiessen on guitar. John Kirk replaced Harrison and Craig Waugh replaced Matandos by 1984.

HOW DO YOU GET YOUR KICKS

The band's debut album, 'Cos Life Hurts, peaked at No. 3 on the Australian Kent Music Report in 1985, and included their highest charting single "50 Years" which reached No. 6 on the singles chart.

DON'T WAKE ME

Thiessen left to be replaced temporarily by Joey Amenta on guitar and more permanently by Brett Kingman.

STILL WAITING

Their second album, What You Give is What You Get, was released in October 1986 and peaked at No. 19, it included the Top 20 hit single "I Am". After disbanding in 1987 there was a brief reunion during 1998.

In March 2011, the band played three gigs with Tim Rosewarne (guest keyboards); The Chelsea Heights Hotel (17 March 2011), Trak Live Lounge Bar, Toorak Melbourne (18 March 2011) and the V8 Supercar Clipsal 500 event in South Australia (19 March 2011).
